Abbott Elementary‘s Season 2, Episode 10, “Holiday Hookah,” was one of 2022’s most delightful winter finales. So we have no choice but to assume that Quinta Brunson’s Emmy-winning workplace mockumentary will continue to deliver hearty laughs, heartwarming moments, and romantic sparks in 2023.

The series — which follows Janine (Brunson), Gregory (Tyler James Williams), Barbara (Sheryl Lee Ralph), Melissa (Lisa Ann Walter), Jacob (Chris Perfetti), Ava (Janelle James), and the rest of Willard R. Abbott Public School’s staff and students — took a short hiatus from December 14 to December 28. But it’s returning for the second half of its supersized 22-episode Season 2 in 2023.

A rep for Abbott Elementary confirmed that the show will be back with a new episode on Wednesday, January 4, 2023. (That’s today!) New episodes are also confirmed for Wednesday, January 11 and 18.

Per ABC, Season 2, Episode 11 is titled “Read-A-Thon,” and the description is as follows: “The competition heats up between Melissa and Janine as their classrooms go head-to-head in a read-a-thon sponsored by a local pizza shop. Both teachers encourage their students to hit the books hard but face some unexpected obstacles on their path to pizza glory. Meanwhile, Jacob and Gregory join forces and attempt to get their student-podcasting club off the ground.”

“Read-A-Thon” was written by Garrett Werner and directed by Dime Davis.
