Big Brother Season 25 had a mother of a season premiere last night (Aug. 2), primarily because Cirie Fields appeared to be joining her son Jared and his fellow houseguests.

Fields had a historic run on Seasons 12, 16, 20 and 34 of Survivor. Although she never snagged a victory, she earned fourth place on Survivor: Panama (2006) and third place on Survivor: Micronesia (2008). She also recently won The Traitors, taking home the grand prize of $20,000 on the Peacock reality series, which was released in January and is inspired by the Dutch show of the same name.

Fields is the first Survivor contestant to subsequently compete on Big Brother, while other previous Survivor contestants Hayden Moss and Caleb Reynolds had competed on Big Brother first.

Three hours prior to the season premiere’s release, the official Big Brother Twitter account broke the news that this season would release a mystery 17th houseguest as opposed to the usual 16 contestants. Viewers first caught a glimpse of her welcoming the houseguests back inside the house with champagne, per Entertainment Weekly.

As the episode progressed, the show’s X (formerly known as Twitter) account made live updates, including making Cirie’s introduction almost halfway through the premiere.

The premiere was especially unique in that it was a 90-minute-long episode (other episodes of the series are typically about an hour long) and had plenty of other twists. One notable change included ditching the usual “Head of Household” challenge.

This contestants range from age 21 to age 60, and in Big Brother fashion, were only just introduced to each other moments before they moved into the house, per Forbes. This season, the house is being divided into four unique “multiverses”: the Scramble-verse, the BB Comic-verse, the Humili-verse, and the Scary-verse. Host Julie Chen Moonves has returned to lead the houseguests on another wild ride as they each compete for $750,000.

Big Brother airs on Sundays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 9/8c on CBS. Live streaming feeds and next-day streaming are also available on Paramount+.
