A South Shore event center is celebrating Father’s Day by hosting a free beard trim in hopes of raising $20,000 for the nonprofit No Matter What.
The fundraising event is from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Quarry Event Center, 2423 E. 75th St. For every beard trimmed, WAHL Clipper Corporation will donate $100 to No Matter What, a nonprofit that mentors youth. The goal is to have 200 men participate Saturday.
Men citywide are invited to come out to trim their beards this Fathers Day weekend. There also will be free trims available Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m.
Real Men Charities Inc will host the 34th Real Men Cook event from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the center. The event is a chance for community members and families to celebrate Fathers Day together.
Tickets for the cooking event are $15 for seniors and children, and $25 for adults.
The nonprofit was founded in 1990 by Yvette Mayo to advocate for families with an emphasis on fathers to promote community development. Its first focus was food security, proper nutrition and healthcare, according to its website.
Later, the nonprofit included mental and emotional health in its mission as well as suicide prevention, literacy, mentoring and holistic wellness.
