Sarah Jessica Parker wasn’t the only one who auditioned for Carrie Bradshaw on ‘Sex and The City’

And Just Like That… things could have gone a lot differently!

During a recent interview, it was revealed that Sarah Jessica Parker almost didn’t play her iconic character, Carrie Bradshaw on the 1998 hit, “Sex and The City,” as her two costars Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon both tried out for the part.

Nixon starred as attorney Miranda Hobbes, while Davis ended up playing Charlotte York, while both of whom have reprised their role for the spinoff show, “And Just Like That…”

Davis recalled during an appearance on the “And Just Like That… Writer’s Room” podcast this week that she was asked to read for Parker’s character as they weren’t sure if the actress would end up doing it.

“I was like, ‘That is adorable, but I can’t play that part!’” Davis said during the podcast. “Like, ‘Whatcha thinking?’ I mean, hello!”

She explained that Parker’s character, Carrie, was described as having “the body of Heather Locklear and the mind of Dorothy Parker.”

Davis admitted that she “understood” the character of Charlotte much more than she did Carrie.

Nixon also revealed that she auditioned to play Carrie before she read for Miranda, a character that she admitted was a bit out of her wheelhouse, as she typically played the role of someone who was “meek.”

“They brought me in to audition for Carrie, and I auditioned, and they were like, ‘Yeah, not so much,’” Nixon said during the podcast.

She continued, explaining how she landed the role of Hobbes in the end.

“And I’m usually not so proactive, but … at the time it didn’t seem like there was four women,” Nixon said. “It seemed like there was seven… It’s a show that shoots in New York, and that never happens. There’s gotta be one of those women I can play. Couldn’t they see me for somebody else?”

Nixon said that she auditioned many times for Miranda, and even tested for the show.

But interestingly enough, Nixon claimed that producers didn’t get back to her right away, and she didn’t end up landing the part until months later.

The show, which chronicled the lives of four women living in New York City, also featured Kim Cattrall, who played sultry publicist Samantha Jones.

The series ran from 1998 to 2004, spanning for six seasons on HBO.

In 2020, it was announced that the show would be revived into a spinoff series, titled “And Just Like That…,” featuring Nixon, Parker, and Davis.

The first episode aired in December 2021 on Max, formerly known as HBO Max, and the second season is slated for June 22.

Cattrall did not sign on following rumors — and even some seeming crumbs of evidence — of a feud between her and the cast.

The rift seemingly began in 2017, when they were set to film the third installment of the “Sex and the City” movie.

Production came to a screeching halt after there was some supposed drama between Cattrall and the ladies, while an article published in the Daily Mail allegedly revealed Cattrall’s “demands” for the movie at the time.

However, this upcoming season will bring a bit of twist, as The Post exclusively revealed last month that Cattrall would be returning to reprise her role on the show in a “cliffhanger” cameo.

One insider claimed that her appearance had been kept so “hush-hush” that Cattrall’s name didn’t even appear on the call sheet.

An insider told The Post that show staffers were “definitely shocked, very intrigued on how they’re gonna write this in — and very excited.”

They continued, “She said she’d never do it! She said she’d never come back!”
