ISL started with eight teams. The number of teams has increased to 11. However, if a team becomes the I-League champion, it does not get a chance to play ISL directly. Again, the bottom team of ISL did not have to go down to the I-League. It won’t be like that from next season. If they are at the last place in the points table of the league, they will play in the I-League in the next season. On the other hand, the I-League champion team will get a chance to play directly in the ISL. Kalyan said on Saturday, “This league is nine years old. The door should have been left open from the beginning or at least from the fifth year. But only certain teams are getting a chance to play. No competition can be raised without a reduction. All concerned should think about this. It has to be decided how to turn it into an open league. But those who don’t have the chance to become champions lose their enthusiasm after a while. No team can take the fear of relegation lightly anymore. Kalyan says, “Many times teams lose motivation. No competition can proceed in this way. This is the best time to start open leagues. Otherwise it will be late. The sooner the transition and demotion can begin, the better.”
