Prosthetic makeup is changing the appearance, the acting is not happening! The value is falling, like Ambarish

What feels good today, may not feel good in the future. Ambarish Bhattacharya talks about this change as normal. For now he is very busy. He is in Dhulagarh for shooting. After that go to Bolpur. Will reach Mumbai in between. Anandabazar online caught him on the phone. He said that he is eating less. What is the preparation now in life?

Question: The whole month without home, How is the shooting going??

Ambarish: There is a lot of pressure. I have to travel here and there for shooting. Many films are being worked on simultaneously. Shivprasad-Nandita Roy’s ‘Raktavij’ is in progress. I am also playing an important role in Krishnandu Chatterjee’s ‘Yamalaye Jivant Bhanu’. He also has to travel for film work. I also have to go to work for a web series in Mumbai sometimes, I won’t say more about that.

Q: Sounds like new love? Not having difficulty with this schedule?

Ambarish: Love is a thought. Love comes and goes. I am not a consistent lover, not consistent in anything in life.

Q: Not even in acting?

Ambarish: Nah! Sometimes I think I will not act anymore.

Question: Is it very boring??

Ambarish: yes I feel overused. A face that has been seen everywhere for the past seventeen years. It’s tiring. So I think, if I stop this institutional acting for a few days and return to the roots, I can bring some changes in my acting.

Question: After working in one mega serial for a long time, this is the situation?

Ambarish: Good film work does not always come. Since I have not done anything other than acting, I had to do Mega for the sake of earning. But working in serials is a kind of practice. Acting habits persist. Maybe the content isn’t passable, I don’t believe the dialogues I’m speaking, but the character has to be developed.

Q: You sing and teach in theater. How did you team up with Sohini Sengupta?

Ambarish: It was Ketkidi who developed his interest in theater music. After he left, I started studying and researching the history of theater music. I know more than a hundred theater songs. From 1835 to the period of group theatre. I knew Sohini as a powerful stage actress. But there was no talk. There was talk while making the ‘Kharkuto’ series. In the context of the outdoor talk, I said, I can do the show, if Sohini also agrees to sing along, and if I get Nandikar’s cooperation. This is how it started. There have been three events, all to house fulls.

Q: Singing in the theater But I don’t want to return to acting?

Ambarish: Last stage performance in 2013. I can’t do it now due to lack of time. Director Suman Mukherjee asked to work on his production recently. Couldn’t make the time. The dates he wanted for rehearsals were not available. In fact, I can’t do theater by adjusting with anything else. You have to give up other work and do full theater.

Question: Don’t you dream of seeing yourself in the lead role of a film or series?

Ambarish: If any director, producer ever thought, it would be quite fun. I will try to work well. But I have no more dreams because I got more than I deserve. No regrets if not.

Q: Will the character ever agree to lose weight?

Ambarish: Of course I’m doing it. I have to lose quite a bit of weight for a big job. I am in that process. I don’t think these changes help character building much though. I think ‘look’ doesn’t matter much if the acting is right. It is more important for me to portray the character through acting.

Q: So why is prosthetic makeup so popular now?

Ambarish: I see many actors and actresses using prosthetic makeup to change their appearance. But they could not change the performance. But in our industry, the focus is on external changes. The audience does not remember the external surprise for more than five minutes. It is the change of the intimate that pulls them. But in Tollywood lately, the change in appearance is getting more importance. No one thinks about what needs to be read, what needs to be thought. I think the ‘prosthetics’ of the acting would have been much better.

Q: Dream was to become an actor, He also got extra popularity with him. Is there still any regret??

Ambarish: I didn’t have any great desires, I made a name for myself, got people’s love. No regrets. I consider myself a mediocre actor at heart. Many actors who are a thousand times better than me are not known because luck has not helped them. I am a reliable professional actor. If it falls in the hands of a good director, I can sometimes perform well. I am not a trained actor like Hrithik, Anirban or Riddhi. Still it is surprising to think that I have worked with all the directors of Kolkata.

Question: Lately, corruption has been casting a shadow in the acting worldIs the watchdog competition creating additional pressure in the industry??

Ambarish: Open market is constantly showing us greed. Education gives us a sense of acceptance and exclusion. The standard of education has fallen all over the country and the whole world.

Question: So, is the number of uneducated stars increasing in the industry??

Ambarish: There are no more icons in the open market. The actor no longer has that godlike place. Their everything in public. Earlier, people did not know how Uttamkumar lives at home. To become an icon, this hide is necessary. He is no longer hiding today. All entered the bedroom. Common people have nothing to take from them. While working with Ayushmann Khurrana in Mumbai, I saw that they understood that the days of stars are over. They are mixing easily, sitting everywhere. They know that they have to play well and survive by acting well. Now we can watch Korean web series whenever we want, we can watch pictures from any part of the world. The field of comparison has grown. Nothing will happen with stardom.

Q: Do you think it is important to stick to an ideal even as a professional actor??

Ambarish: It depends on the person. Ideal actors still exist. Was there before. But he was also an idealistic actor. There was a shelter then. Now that is not there, who is ideal, who is not ideal, it is becoming more clear. However, common people are no longer affected by it. Times have changed completely. Everyone is so busy, so restless. Everyone on the street is busy on the phone. They don’t see the sky, they don’t see the person next to them. People-to-people connection is decreasing.

Question: I don’t want to enter politics?

Ambarish: You have to learn politics. Now if a politician suddenly comes to act, I will make fun of him. Even if I go into politics, people will do the same. Maybe I will win if I stand for the vote. But that won’t really win. And I think, if people want to do good, there are many other ways. I have no qualifications for politics.
