A worker of former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s political party Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was killed in a police operation in Lahore, Pakistan. The raid was carried out by the Punjab Police during the PTI rally on Wednesday (March 8).

The name of the PTI worker killed is Ali Bilal. He is a resident of Jahangir Town, Lahore. According to local media reports, the young man Ali Bilal was injured in heavy baton charge by the police. At one point he died.

According to the report of Pakistan-based media Dawn, Pakistan’s political instability is gradually increasing. In the meantime, PTI workers are extremely angry because of the attempt to arrest Imran Khanak. As a result, PTI held a rally in Lahore on Wednesday, ignoring the administrative ban. Thousands of PTI leaders and workers participated in it.

PTI leaders and activists claim that although the protest was peaceful, the police suddenly launched a crackdown. At one stage there was a massive clash between the police and PTI workers-supporters. After that, clashes broke out in Lahore’s Mall Road and Canal Road. Police tried to disperse the rally by lathicharge, water cannon and tear gas. In response, Imran Khan’s supporters threw bricks and stones.

According to the local media, many people were injured in the police operation that day. Besides, several people have been arrested. PTI leaders and activists say that Imran Khan will not be allowed to be arrested in any way. If he is to be arrested, the leaders and workers must be arrested first.

Meanwhile, Imran Khan strongly condemned the death of Ali Bilal. In a related Twitter message, he said, Ali Bilal was an unarmed, dedicated worker of PTI. He died due to torture by Punjab police. The brutality of the police on unarmed PTI workers who came to attend the election rally is at least shameful.

The court issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against Imran Khan on February 28 for failing to appear in court in the Toshakhana case. On Sunday (March 5), Islamabad police raided Imran Khan’s house in Lahore to arrest him without a court summons. However, he was not found in that house that day.

Since then, PTI leaders and activists have been standing in front of Imran Khan’s house. Avoiding arrest, Imran Khan addressed the nation that afternoon. He said, I did not leave the country to avoid arrest. I have never bowed down to anyone, nor will I in the future. And I have no desire to leave the country.
