Missing South Carolina woman could be tied to Gilgo Beach suspect Rex Heuermann: cops

Police in South Carolina are trying to link accused Gilgo Beach serial killer Rex Heuermann to the disappearance of an 18-year-old local woman who went missing in 2014.

Police in Rock Hill said Thursday that they were probing whether the hulking Long Island murder suspect is behind the disappearance of Aaliyah Bell, who disappeared just 20 miles away from a property Heuermann owns.

“Our investigators have been reviewing any information to see if there is a correlation between the disappearance of Aaliyah Bell and Rex Heuermann,” Rock Hill Police Lt. Michael Chavis said in a statement.

“So far there is no indication that leads us to identify Heuermann as a suspect in this case,” Chavis said. “We will continue to investigate Bell’s disappearance and follow up on all tips and leads.”

Chavis said the department was “doing its due diligence” in trying to tie the cases together.

Heuermann, 59, an architect from Massapequa Park, is charged with murder in the deaths of three women whose remains were found in Gilgo Beach in 2010 and is the main suspect in a fourth slaying.

Property records show that Heuermann also owns a timeshare in Las Vegas and a property in Chester, South Carolina — a 30-minute drive from Rock Hill — that he purchased in 2021 for $154,000.

The property is fenced off and marked with an ominous sign that reads, “No Warrant, No Entry.”

The Chester County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that a Chevrolet Avalanche belonging to Heuermann was towed from the property by New York State Police last week and is being held as evidence.

It is not known if the accused killer spent time in the Carolinas before he bought the land, but he reportedly hoped to retire to the secluded rural property with his brother, Craig.

Police in Las Vegas have also been scouring their missing person records for any ties to Heuermann.

According to WBTV-News, Bell disappeared from her home in Rock Hill two days before Thanksgiving in 2014 after leaving her uncle’s home on Chestnut Street.

Police later pursued possible sightings in Columbia and Charlotte but she has never been found.
