Virat Kohli touched another milestone in international cricket. Ahmedabad completed 4000 Test runs on the country’s soil. Kohli set another precedent in the fourth Test against Australia.

Kohli was bowled by Brian Lara. Only Sachin Tendulkar is ahead of him. He surpassed Lara in scoring runs in international cricket against Australia. Kohli overtook Lara on Saturday. Kohli has collected 4729 runs at an average of 50.84 against Australia till Saturday. Lara scored 4714 runs against Australia. Sachin Tendulkar holds the record for scoring the highest runs against Australia. He scored 6707 runs at an average of 49.68. Kohli has played a total of 104 innings of 89 matches against Australia in all types of cricket. Lara played 82 matches and 108 innings. Sachin played 110 matches and 144 innings.

Kohli needed 42 runs to reach 4000 Test runs on home soil. He reached the milestone by hitting four off Nathan Lion on Saturday. Kohli took 77 innings to score 4000 runs in Tests in the country. Sunil Gaoskar and Rahul Dravid if toppled. Gaoskar completed 4000 Test runs on home soil from 87 innings and Dravid from 88 innings. Kohli’s Test average on domestic soil was 58.82 when he reached this milestone. In this he is on top. That is, none of the batsmen who have so far scored 4000 or more runs in Tests on domestic soil have such an average.
