Jets’ improved speed on offense noticeable with new additions

Observations from Sunday’s Jets camp:

Fleet of foot

The Jets’ elevated team speed on offense was in evidence throughout the morning, as RBs Michael Carter and Israel Abanikanda, and WR Mecole Hardman dashed around prospective tacklers and into the open field.

Butterfingers

WR Allen Lazard dropped an easy pass in the middle of the field on what should have been a 20-yard gain.

Caught my eye

Aaron Rodgers threw to FB Nick Bawden on consecutive plays in an 11-on-11 drill.

Bawden had only one pass thrown his way last season (a 20-yard reception) in 57 snaps, but perhaps Rodgers will be able to get the fullback more involved in the offense this season.

Rodgers report

There weren’t many “wow” moments for the quarterback, other than an acrobatic interception by Sauce Gardner in the end zone on the final play of practice.

Rodgers did lead the offense to a field goal on his drive in the two-minute drill.

Injury report

DE Carl Lawson missed practice with a back that’s a “little tight,” and CB Bryce Hall sat out with a “minor hammy,” according to coach Robert Saleh.

LB Quincy Williams and OG Laken Tomlinson both appeared to come up lame, but the coach said all indications look good.
