A US woman was left horrified after she accidentally captured the moment she was fired from her job.

Jen Lucas, from Atlanta, Georgia, was filming a “cute” day-in-the-life video in the style of director Wes Anderson.

While recording the vlog, Jen discovered she had been laid off from her position as a recruiting manager at Amazon.

She uploaded the clip to TikTok and it went viral – attracting more than 6.1 million views.

The video begins with her banging her head against the wall. Text over the clip reads: “I was trying to film a cute Wes Anderson-style WFH [work from home] and accidentally filmed myself getting laid off??!”

It was followed by a title sequence that read: “Getting laid off from my job. What the f**k”.

Prior to her job loss, Jen featured clips of her morning routine, from getting out of bed to making a cup of coffee to brushing her teeth.

She then turns her computer on and starts checking her emails. The clip shows her covering her mouth in shock as she stares at her screen, with text explaining: “Real time opening the email.”

Jen then went on a “mental health walk” with her husband and dog after finding out the news with the text: “Onward to better things.”

“I debated if I should even post this, but if you got laid off too just know you’re not alone,” she wrote in the caption.

In a follow-up video, Jen explained that she was “really surprised” by the news as she had been working for Amazon for eight years.

“I got promoted twice last year, I had an amazing review just a month ago,” she said.

“I know it’s not about my performance or who I am as an employee, but that doesn’t make it suck any less.

“Part of me is glad to be out of this extremely toxic environment but the other part feels like a failure and a disappointment and hates that I have to tell people that I got laid off from my job, but that is life.

“I am human and this does not make me any less amazing or valuable or smart.

“I know I’m gonna land on my feet, I know I’m gonna be fine. But this sucks. Like, this is a top 10 bad feeling.”

Commenting on her original video, users sent their support to Jen while others joked her firing made the video more like a Wes movie.

The Grand Budapest Hotel filmmaker is best known for his unique visual and narrative style of editing.

“This is actually the MOST accurate Wes Anderson video I’ve seen, utter aesthetic tragedy,” wrote one person.

“So sorry about your job, but on the bright side, with the creativity you’ve shown in this perfect video, I’m sure a better job will come to you soon,” another said.

“Petition to announce every layoff via trend,” a third joked. “I’m so sorry bestie but you’ve got this.”

Despite the kind words, Jen did receive some negative comments.

One person accused the ex-Amazon worker of getting fired for “making s**ty TikToks while you’re supposed to be working.”

“There are 16 hours outside of a 9 to 5 that you can use however you want,” she clapped back.

“You might want to try some compassion, being kind is a better way to live.”
