Jamie Lee Curtis is a friend who is willing to share a wig from her head.
Especially Curtis’ wig from “Halloween Ends,” which ended up on the head of close friend Jennifer Gray in the Lifetime movie “Gwen Shamblin: Starving for Salvation” (airing Saturday).
When she was about to sign on to play the big-haired and controversial leader of the Remnant Fellowship Church, Gray called Curtis for help with her hair.
Gray told Entertainment Weekly, “I called (Curtis) and said, ‘Hey, I’m thinking of doing a job, but I told them I need good wigs.’ “And she said, ‘Okay, I’m sending you a number right now. His name is Rob Pickens and he did my wig for ‘Halloween’. And he did Ana de Armas’ wigs for ‘Blonde’. He has a wig making atelier where they make them by hand, hair by hair, and call him as soon as you get off the phone with me.’”
Gray said it also doesn’t matter that she hasn’t formally closed the deal for the role. Curtis told her: “I don’t care. It’s going to take a long time. You need the wig fitted today.”

Gray calls and Pickens tells her that Curtis’s wig in the flashback scene in “Halloween Ends” is a perfect match for an early Shamblin wig. It was “redesigned”.
“So the first wig I put on (at the beginning of the movie), when Gwen is like the church lady, is Jamie’s old wig from ‘Halloween Ends.’ Gray said.

Pickens explained:
“The short wig that was reused for Gwen was the ‘Flashback’ wig that we used for Jamie in ‘Halloween Ends.’ was.”
Gwen Shamblin’s controversial book “The Way Down Diet” (which promoted worship rather than mindless eating) was published in 1997. She and her church, founded in 1999, were the subject of the HBO Max documentary “The Way Down: God, Greed.” , and The Creed of Gwen Shamblin.”
Before his death in a 2021 plane crash, Shamblin gained megachurch fame and sported more pointed hair, with Pickens’ team creating a larger second wig to represent that high-hair look.
“My hair was cut and tied tightly to my head and cut and gelled,” Gray said of the voluminous wig. “The wig wasn’t uncomfortable, but (there was) tightness underneath. I have too much hair to wrap in a wig cap!”
Gray took the Internet by storm in November when she showed off that Shamblin wig look on Instagram.
“Okay… you have my full attention,” Michael J. Fox commented.
“Saved by the Bell” alum Elizabeth Berkley Lauren said she’s dying to see the feature.
