Grading the Giants’ 30-12 loss to the 49ers on Thursday night.

Offense

Not much of anything, really. Daniel Jones (22-33, 137 yards, 1 INT) left the dynamism in Glendale, Ariz.

He got nothing done with his legs (two carries for 5 yards) and a late-game interception deflected off the hands of TE Darren Waller, who had a high pass slip through his hands late in the second quarter.

WR Parris Campbell slipped and failed to get out of bounds, forcing the Giants to burn their last time out in the first half. No Saquon Barkley, no rushing attack (29 yards) whatsoever.

LG Shane Lemieux, making his first start of the season, was bull-rushed by Javon Hargrave for an 8-yard sack. LT Josh Ezeudu was called for a face-mask penalty.

Seldom-used RB Gary Brightwell had a run and catch for 18 yards on the first series, but also a drop.

Grade: F.

Defense

There were no answers for Deebo Samuel (9-129, 1 TD), who at times seemed to delight in running through the Giants’ arm tackles. There was some heat on Brock Purdy, but he still passed for 310 yards and two touchdowns.

Do the Giants know how to deal with a screen pass?

It didn’t look like it.

Kayvon Thibodeaux got the first sack of the season for the Giants — in their ninth quarter — but did not look great in missing an arm tackle of Elijah Mitchell.

Rookie CB Deonte Banks was beaten by rookie WR Ronnie Bell for a 9-yard TD.

S Jason Pinnock looked like a statue as Mitchell ran by him for 18 yards.

Xavier McKinney failed to corral TE George Kittle on what turned into a 29-yard reception. LB Micah McFadden, on back-to-back coverage plays in the second quarter, dropped Mitchell for losses.

In the third quarter, McFadden tackled McCaffrey for a 4-yard loss and he also got Mitchell for a 2-yard loss in the fourth quarter.

Grade: C-minus.

Special Teams

How about that 57-yard field goal drilled by Graham Gano near the end of the first half?

Gano also hit a 44-yarder.

Jamie Gillan lived up to his Scottish Hammer moniker with a booming 60-yard punt from his own end zone.

His next one netted 48 yards in his best performance of the season.

Grade: A.

Coaching

Brian Daboll has to figure out a way to get his team out of the gate without falling so far behind.

These early and large deficits are killers. Daboll going for the two-point conversion five minutes into the third quarter? Meh.

Whoever devised the blocking scheme that called for TE Daniel Bellinger to deal with Nick Bosa (8-yard sack) should rethink that one.

It was disappointing to see such a flat outing on offense, but Mike Kafka and company had to devote so many (too many?) resources to try to contain Bosa.
