Drew Barrymore and Paris Hilton Reflect on “Party Girl” Days: “People Don’t Know What Fun Is Today”

The early aughts icons are reuniting! During today’s episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, Drew Barrymore welcomed her “lifelong friend” Paris Hilton to the stage, where they dished on their mutual “party girl” pasts.

Hilton — who dropped by to promote her new book Paris: The Memoir — joked with Barrymore about how far they’ve each come since their younger years, in which both ladies participated in their fair share of “the good, the naughty, the bad, the fun,” as Barrymore put it.

The talk show host then pulled up a photo of Hilton smiling as she walked out of jail after spending 23 days behind bars for violating her probation on a reckless driving conviction in 2006.

“That’s you literally walking out of jail,” Barrymore pointed out, before bringing up a photo from her own childhood. “There’s me partying — they’ve had to black out the cigarettes — that’s me at nine. Smoking, partying.”

While some audience members giggled, others let out an audible “aw,” to which Barrymore replied, “I know. Funny, sad, weird, like, all of the above.”

The next set of photos showed Barrymore and the Simple Life star partying in clubs as she noted, “Here we are. Party girls. God, that was fun,” while Hilton echoed, “So much fun. People don’t know what fun is today.”

Barrymore concluded her trip down memory lane by flashing forward nearly two decades with a photo of Hilton in front of the White House “being an advocate” and one of herself interviewing President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden.

“We’re so grown up,” Hilton gushed.

As for why the author continues to “peel back the curtain” on her life, she told Barrymore, “Ever since my documentary, it was the first time that I ever really got real, and I’ve just been on this whole path of self-discovery because my life was moving so fast and I had been through so much trauma that I’ve never had a moment to just think about everything.”

She added, “The past couple years have just been so empowering and I just feel like I finally know who I am.”
