A visa information center has been opened at a railway station in India. A ‘Bangladesh Visa Information Centre’ was launched at Kolkata (also known as Chitpur) station in India on Monday. The information center was established to facilitate the process of visa application and obtaining visa for Indian citizens who wish to visit Bangladesh for business, tourism or any other purpose. The visa information center is another step to strengthen the bilateral relations between the two countries. On the one hand, it will be easier for Indian citizens to get a visa to Bangladesh, and as a result of the visit of Indian citizens to Bangladesh, the trade and tourism industry will develop between the two countries.
This visa information center in Kolkata will be managed by DU Digital Global, a leading visa processing company. This private organization has already opened two visa application centers in West Bengal. One of which is located on the first floor of Infinium DigiSpace, CP Block, Salt Lake, Sector Five, Kolkata. The second is located at Shop No. 30 & 31, Second Floor, International Market, Sewak Road, near Pani Tanki Mor, Siliguri.
Mohammad Sarfraz, Bangladesh Visa Operations Manager of Sector Five, said that this information center will provide all the information about how and in which process Indian citizens can get visa quickly in case of going to Bangladesh.
Bangladesh Deputy High Commissioner Andalib Elias said, ‘The number of passengers traveling to both countries has increased after the corona epidemic. As a result, this information center has been opened to provide information to those who travel to Bangladesh.
ASM Almas Hossain, Counselor (Consular Visa) of the Bangladesh Sub-High Commission in Kolkata said that since January 2022, tourist visas have been introduced to visit Bangladesh. Since then the number of Indian passengers has been increasing. About 14,000 to 15,000 visas are being issued every month. Last year we were given 130,000 Bangladeshi visas, most of which were tourist visas. As a result of all these passenger crossings, revenue is being collected in every sector of rail, transport or air and the economy of both countries is prospering.
Meanwhile, the information center was crowded on the first day of its opening. A woman resident of Cuttack in Odisha said that she got married in Khulna, Bangladesh and traveling to Khulna by train is very easy. So he came here today to know the procedure and facilities of getting visa.
