Dhrimal Dutt, Kolkata:

The land dispute between the Visva Bharati Authority and the Nobel-winning economist Amartya Sen is not stopping. Because once again the Visva Bharati authorities have issued an eviction notice to Nobel laureate economist Amartya Sen.

On Sunday (March 19), an eviction notice was delivered to Amartya Sen’s Santiniketan home ‘Pratichi’ address.

The letter said that on March 29, Amartya Sen or any of his representatives should be present in the conference hall of Visva Bharati’s Central Admission Building.

Visva Bharati authorities claim that Nobel laureate economist Amartya Sen has occupied 13 decimals of Visva Bharati’s land. Earlier, Visva Bharati authorities had sent a notice and directed Amartya Sen to return the land.

Amartya Sen claimed that a part of his house land was leased from Visva Bharati. Some land has been purchased. But Amartya Sen claims that Visva Bharati authorities are now denying that.

This land has been taken in the name of Amartya Sen’s father Ashutosh Sen. A few days ago, instead of his father, he applied to lease the land in his own name. A hearing has also been held in the land and land reform department of Bolpur. Amartya Sen and Vishwabharti, lawyers for both parties, were present there. But even after the discussion of the lawyers of both parties, the problem was not resolved. In the meantime, Amartya Sen was again given an eviction notice by the Visva Bharati authorities.
