Air quality alert issued for 3rd day

Good afternoon, Chicago.

An air quality alert was issued for the third consecutive day. National Weather Service officials said Friday is the eighth air pollution action day in 2023.

Nearly all of Illinois is experiencing abnormally dry conditions, according to federal weather and agricultural authorities. Chicago’s “moderate drought” status was upgraded to “severe drought” last week.
