9 soldiers killed in suicide attack in Pakistan

At least 9 soldiers were killed in a suicide attack in Pakistan. Several others were injured. The attack took place in the southwestern province of Balochistan. Al Jazeera news.

On Monday (March 6), local police spokesman Ijaz Ahmed said that at least 9 paramilitary soldiers of Balochistan Constabulary were killed in the blast.

The spokesman said the explosion occurred when army personnel were traveling by bus in the town of Sibi in Kachi district, 160 km southeast of the provincial capital Quetta.

A suicide bomber on a motorcycle rammed into the back of a vehicle carrying soldiers, an official told Reuters.

Officials said that the army personnel were performing security duties for about a week. Hospital officials confirmed that at least seven policemen were injured. There have been a series of attacks on security officials in Pakistan recently. No group has yet claimed responsibility for Monday’s attack.

Before this, there was an attack in Balochistan at the end of last month. At least four people were killed and 14 others injured. The blast occurred in Barkhan area, 500 km away from the provincial capital Quetta.

Besides, on December 25 last year, terrorist attacks took place in different parts of Balochistan. Six members of the security forces including a captain lost their lives in that incident. Recently, such attacks have increased in Pakistan.
